You have reached the gnu linux search engine blog.
One way that you can determine if your system is Linux compatible is by using a Live CD. For those of you who have never heard of such a thing. A live cd is a disc with a tiny installation of linux on it that can run from your cd player without having to be installed. This can enable you to determine if your video and sound card are linux compatible. Maybe even a few other items may be able to run from the disk. Although just because a piece of hardware does not run from the boot disk does not mean it isn’t linux compatible as the boot disk is a very minimal database of linux info. A lot of things simply have to be installed on your system to run. Finding linux compatible hardware or checking to see if your hardware is linux compatible can involve a mess of details. Since most websites and companies devote their attention towards Microsoft Windows related products then trying to find linux compatible printers or sound cards or anything often ends with you on a website that popped up in your search results that had nothing to do with linux.
Wait don’t give up yet we have a solution.
As you may have noticed this site is
the linux search engine blog. Have you ever considered venturing out to that section of the site. It is our home page. And we index only linux related sites. And better yet because I have always hated having to spend hours looking for information about linux compatible hardware throughout the 8 years that I have been using linux, I have a search section specifically for finding linux compatible hardware, or checking to see if your hardware is supported. You can either type in a simple search term like Printer to find a list of linux compatible printers if you are in the market for a printer. Or you can type in something more specific if you already have a printer and you need to check and see if it is compatible. For example you can type in Epson C64 and see if it is supported. Same thing with your video and sound cards etc you can look them up in the hardware section and see if they are supported. You can also try the regular search if your results are limited as it includes forums and a number of other useful linux sites. If you have a website related to linux or linux compatible products submit your site to be included in our index. Here is the link to our home page that has the search engine and the submit button:
